The aim of the work was to study the possibility of regulating the serum 6 and 10 interleukin levels in CBA male-mice (CBA/LacY subline) genetically predisposed to spontaneous hepatocarcinogenesis. The control animals received water throughout the trial. The experimental mice received 0,3% phytoadaptogene complex (PAC) dry extract water-solution during the first month of life (preventive administration). The PAC dry extract is a sublimated form of PAC water-ethanol extract, consisting of 40 medical herbs extracts components including adaptogens (Panax ginseng, Eleutherococcus senticosus, Rhodiola rosea, Aralia mandshurica spp.). PAC water-ethanol extract has immunomodulatory, antimutagenic, antioxidant, anti-stress, antitumor properties. Serum samples from animals at the age of 4, 8 and 22 months were assayed. Serum interleukins 6 and 10 levels were quantified using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Statistical analysis was performed with the program Statistica 6.0. It was shown that the development of spontaneous hepatocarcinomas in CBA male-mice was accompanied by an increase of interleukins 6 and 10 levels in the serum. Preventive administration of PAC dry extract as non-toxic immunomodulator revealed the serum interleukins 6 and 10 down-regulated levels. A similar effect was identified previously for the water-ethanol form of PAC. Up-regulated serum 6 and 10 interleukins levels appears to be one of the cancer-associated components and may be regulated by non-toxic adaptogene herbal formula preventive administration in the early onthogenesis. A friendly ensemble of enhancing the adhesive interactions of immune effectors with tumor cells and suppressing IL-6 and -10 may be essential for the prevention of genetically determined hapatocarcinomas.
