C57BL/6J mice are widely used in various medical and biological studies. However, characteristic increase of sex hormones in the males’ blood in response to a sexual stimulus was not detected. In the present work, we studied the 60-minute dynamics of behavior of male C57BL/6J and testosterone level in the blood under conditions that allow it to see and smell, but not allowing direct contact with receptive female. The study revealed a significant increase in testosterone of the male blood of C57BL/6J by the 30th minute in comparison with its initial values, followed by its decrease. During the first 30 minutes from the moment of appearance of the receptive female, the presence of the pronounced sexual motivational males’ behavior, which preceded the increase of the level of testosterone in the blood, was recorded. After 30 minutes its rapid decrease was noted. Sexual motivational behavior of males was assessed by the time of the male’s occupation at the holed partition separating the female. Thus, for the first time, the activating effect of the female on testosterone levels in the peripheral blood of male C57BL/6J mice, accompanied by pronounced sexual motivation, was recorded. The work clearly demonstrated that during sexual stimulation the male C57BL/6J activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular complex occur. The rise of the testosterone level, caused by the presence of the receptive female, can be considered a reliable parameter characterizing the sexual stimulation of the male.
