Today, scientists around the world are paying more and more attention to the principles of 3 “Rs” when working with laboratory animals. The search for alternative methods for studying the pharmacological activity of drugs is constantly being conducted, aimed at reducing the number of vertebrates used in the study. Despite the fact that the data obtained using alternative methods (in vitro, in silico methods, etc.) are fairly well translated into clinical practice, the complete exclusion of animals from the study is impossible. Primates are an indispensable test system for a number of studies and the study of individual groups of drugs. The use of this type of animal in an experiment should be scientifically substantiated, the protocols of such studies should be carefully considered by bioethical commissions. The brief report outlines the main areas of the experimental science of the use of primates.
